Two Arrested for Wilmot House Explosion

State Fire Marshal J. William Degnan with Wilmot Fire Chief Sean Brunel and Wilmot Police Chief David Zuger announce two arrests made from an investigation into a house explosion at 543 NH Rt. 4A in the town of Wilmot.

On May 1, 2017, at approximately 7:58 AM, the Wilmot Fire Department and the Wilmot Police Department were dispatched to the above address for a report of a structure fire with explosion.  When the Wilmot Police Department arrived, they found the structure to be fully involved with fire.  A male victim was located outside the structure and had sustained severe burn injuries to his face, hands and knees.  Shortly after the initial investigation began, the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to assist with the investigation.

As a result of this joint investigation, the Wilmot Police Department, with assistance from the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office, arrested Shane T. Fortier (DOB 12/24/1987) and Adam J. Dalton (DOB 02/25/1992), charging them both with one count each of Conspiracy to Commit Burglary (NH RSA 635:1), Class B Felonies.  Adam Dalton was released on $10,000 cash bail and will be arraigned in Merrimack Superior Court on December 28, 2017. Shane Fortier refused bail and is being held at the Merrimack County Jail pending his arraignment at Merrimack Superior Court on Monday, December 11, 2017. Additional charges on both parties may be forthcoming.
