Interdict Act Will Help Detect Drugs At Border
The INTERDICT Act co-sponsored by NH Congresswoman Annie Kuster passed the US house yesterday. The bill ensures that Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has new screening devices, laboratory equipment, facilities, and personnel needed to detect and intercept fentanyl and other synthetic opioids.
Kuster said, “The opioid epidemic that is devastating communities around New Hampshire and across the country requires a comprehensive response that addresses all aspects of this crisis.” Kuster is urging the Senate to take up the commonsense legislation that will help keep the country safe.
The Bill was introduced by Rep. Niki Tsongas (D-MA) and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and cosponsored by Representatives Kuster, MacArthur, and Norcross.

Former Goffstown Coach Pleads Guilty to Producing Child Porn
A former Goffstown’s youth coach pled guilty to producing child porn yesterday in Federal Court. According to statements and court documents twenty-five-year-old Matthew Riehl, posed as a teenage girl and contacted his victims using social media. Riehl persuaded his victims to take photographs of themselves and send the pictures to him. Riehl worked to convince his victims to take photographs showing more sexually explicit conduct and coerce some victims to send explicit photographs by threatening to post previously sent photos on social media.
A search warrant executed at Riehl’s Goffstown home in August of 2016 uncovered approximately 500 photos of minor boys in various states of dress and examples of child pornography. Numerous photos were of boys who were members of the teams that Riehl had coached.
Riehl will be sentenced in January and faces a mandatory 15-30 years in prison.
The Goffstown Police Department thanks, everyone involved in this case for coming forward and providing crucial information that has been instrumental in seeing this case come to a successful conclusion.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, the Goffstown Police Department, the Hillsborough County Attorney’s Office, and the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, investigated this case.

Walpole Woman Escapes Injuries in Rt. 5 Accident
A Walpole NH woman escaped injuries after she collided with a utility pole on Vermont Route 5 yesterday afternoon. Vermont State Police say Anna Smith left the travel portion of the road for unknown reasons before hitting the utility pole. Smith’s 2014 Ford Edge sustained heavy frontend damage, and she was cited for failing to maintain her lane.
SSCF Inmate Attacks Correctional Officer
The Vermont State Police charged Lucas Vorsteveld of Bridgeport VT for Assault on a Correctional Officer at the Southern State Correctional Facility. Lucas Vorsteveld was an inmate at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield when he assaulted a SSCF Correctional Officer yesterday. Lucas Vorsteveld was cited to appear in court on November 14th, 2017, at 8:15 AM to answer to the charges.
