Several Injuries in Tractor Trailer / Motor Home Accident

An accident involving a motor home and tractor-trailer truck caused significant delays on I-91 in Rockingham VT yesterday afternoon. Police say Albert Milite III of NY was driving a Jamboree Motor home when a vehicle abruptly stopped in front of him. Bernard Avery was driving a loaded TT unit, responded by abruptly applying the brakes and steering towards the breakdown lane to avoid striking the RV. An impact took place between the left front and side of the TT unit caused massive damage to the rear of the RV ripping the entire backside off the vehicle. Jose Pagen who was a passenger was sleeping in the rear was transported to DHMC for serious back injuries. Mr. Avery was taken to Springfield Hospital for minor back injuries. Several dogs in the RV escaped injuries.
I 91 southbound was reduced to one lane of travel for several hours during the investigation and while the vehicles were removed. This crash is still under further investigation.

Winter Parking Ban Reminder
Springfield Vermont Police Department reminds residents and visitors to Springfield VT that the winter parking ban takes effect on November 1, 2017, through April 15, 2018.
The winter parking ban prohibits any vehicle parked on a street or highway in the town of Springfield between the hours of 1:00-7:00 AM. Any vehicle found to be in violation of the parking ban will be ticketed and towed if necessary.

Burlington Man Facing Drug Charges
A Burlington Vermont man is facing drug charges after a traffic stop on I-89 in Bethel on Friday. Vermont State Police say they stopped Colin March for speeding and during the stop; the officer developed probable cause to search March’s vehicle.
March granted consent for the search. During the search, officers found over 12 ounces of Marijuana, drug paraphernalia and equipment, and packaging used in selling drugs.
March was arrested and charged with Possession of greater than 2 oz of Marijuana, and Selling or Dispensing greater than 1 oz of Marijuana. March was released on a criminal citation to appear at the Windsor County Superior Court, Criminal Division on 11/14/17 at 8 am to answer to the charges.
