Fairlee Fire Under Investigation
A fire that destroyed a Fairlee VT mobile home early Saturday morning is under investigation.
Mutual Aid Fire Companies from VT and NH responded to the mobile home at 739 Route 113 in Fairlee. No injuries were reported but the home was a total loss. West Fairlee
Fire Officials say the mobile was occupied at the time, but no reported injuries, but the home was a total loss. West Fairlee Volunteer Fire Department requested The Vermont State Police Fire Investigation to assist with the origin and cause investigation. Detectives and an investigator from the Division of Fire Safety went to the scene.

Springfield VT Man Charged with DUI and Unlawful Mischief
A Springfield VT was arrested for DUI and Unlawful mischief after a motor vehicle accident. Springfield VT Police said neither Conrad C. Moore nor his passenger was injured. An investigation showed Moore allegedly operated the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. While being processed at the police department Moore became angry when talking with a relative about his situation and allegedly broke the police department’s phone.
Moore will appear in Windsor Criminal Court on July 11th to answer the charges.
Sunapee Police Bust up Underage Drinking Party
Sunapee Police took 38 teens into custody after they discovered an underage drinking party at Otter Pond in Georges Mills. Police said on Thursday night they were responding to a call of several intoxicated teens throwing bottles in the pond when they discovered the party. All alcohol was confiscated and the teens were processed at the Sunapee Police Station and released on personal recognizance bail to the custody of their parents or relative. The last teen was released to a parent at 10:00 AM on Friday. All the teens will appear on August 1st at 8:30 AM in Newport District Court. The NH State Police and the New London Police Department assisted Sunapee Police at the scene.
Newport Man is Sullivan County’s Fugitive of the Week
A Newport man is Sullivan County’s fugitive of the week. A Sullivan County Grand Jury indicted George C. Belt on one count of unauthorized taking on May 24th. Mr. Belt failed to appear for the June 8th arraignment in Sullivan County Superior Court. On June 13th the Superior Court issued an Arrest Warrant for Mr. Belts for failure to appear in court.
Belts is a 41-year-old, white male, 5’8” tall and weighs 215 pounds. He has hazel eyes and black hair. Belts last known address was 361 John Stark Highway in Newport NH. If you know Mr. Belts’ whereabouts contact the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department at 603-863-4200
