WRJ Woman Facing Theft Charges
A White River Junction woman is facing charges for theft from a Hartland VT Store on April 24th. Vermont State Police said an investigation into a theft of alcohol from Mike’s Store lead them to Kristen R. Thayer as the thief. Officers located Thayer last week and issued a citation for her to appear in Windsor Criminal Court on June 20th to answer the charges of retail theft.
Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Bellows Falls Man
A traffic stop lead to the arrest of a Bellows Falls man. Bellows Falls Police say they stopped Array Stevens for speeding on Westminster St., late Saturday night. During the stop officers discovered an outstanding arrest warrant for Stevens for failing to appear in Chittenden County Superior Court for arraignment on drug charges. Officers took Stevens into custody without incident and lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $2,000 cash or Surety bail.
Use Caution When Driving Thru Sunapee
Sunapee police are asking travelers to use caution while traveling in Sunapee due to current road projects. The NH DOT will be paving Route 103 B in Sunapee near the Sucker Brook Bridge on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In addition, the Sunapee Highway Department will be paving Main Street this week. Police ask that you watch out for crews in the road and drive at a reduced speed.
Man Charged with DUI After Tilton Head On Collision
A Pittsfield NH man is charged with driving under the influence after a head on collision in Tilton Monday morning. Police say Brian Gage was traveling north on US 3 when his Pontiac Grand Prix crossed a double solid line and hit Dennis Bourey of Sanborton NH driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer. Gage was transported to Lakes Region General Hospital and subsequently air lifted to the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Mr. Bourey and his wife Patricia were transported to Lakes Region General Hospital where she was air lifted to the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts with life-threatening injuries.
Brian S. Gage was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated.
Assisting on scene were members of the Tilton Police Department, and Tilton Fire & Rescue & EMS Crews.
NH Top Teens Volunteers Receive Awards
New Hampshire’s top two youth volunteers of 2017, Jacob Parker, 18, of Windham and Alexandra Macdonald, 12, of Thornton, were honored in the nation’s capital Sunday night for their outstanding volunteer service. At the 22nd annual presentation of The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards, Jacob and Alexandra along with 100 other top youth volunteers from across the country, each received $1,000 awards and personal congratulations from Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps at the ceremony and dinner reception at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.
Jacob, a senior at Windham High School, founded a nonprofit corporation “Victory Over Addiction”, involving dozens of student volunteers who work on a variety of projects to promote enduring recoveries.
Alexandra, a member of Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains and a sixth-grader at Thornton Central School, held donation drives at her school and a local toy store. The toy drive yielded more than 200 stuffed animals for young patients at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD)
