Nine Arrested by Canaan Police
Canaan Police arrested nine people on various charges during the statewide Operation Granite Hammer Initiative on Wednesday.
Five of the nine were arrested on Felony Arrest Warrants;
Lori B. Sanborn 35 of Canaan for Possession of Methamphetamine,
Travis McCoy 34 of Canaan for the subsequent offense of Possession of Heroin and Possession of Marijuana
Saeti M. Tobin, 22 of Enfield for the subsequent offense of Possession of Cocaine and Transporting Drugs in a Motor Vehicle,
Charles “Asa” Neily, 34 of Canaan for a subsequent offense of Possession of Cocaine,
And Alexander T. Allen 27 of Canaan for the subsequent offence Possession of Methylphenidate .
Additionally four others were arrested.
An 18-year-old male, Electronic Bench Warrant – Violation
A 30-year-old female, Possession of Marijuana – B Misdemeanor
A 25-year-old female, Electronic Bench Warrant – Violation
A 26-year-old female, Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – B Misdemeanor
All defendants were released on personal recognizance bail and are scheduled to
Appear on June 26, in Lebanon District Court.
New Hampshire Probation and Parole and the Enfield Police Department assisted
Canaan Police with the operation.
Accident Causes Power Outage
A Wednesday afternoon accident on John Stark Hwy left residents in the area of Witcher Road without power for several hours. Newport Police say Jason Carrier 31, of Claremont was driving west when left the road and struck phone pole. John Stark Hwy was closed for about 45 minutes while utility crews cleared the down pole and broken wires.
Newport EMS treated Carrier at the scene but his 2006 Acura TSX suffered substantial damage and was towed from the scene. Police attribute driver fatigue as the cause of the crash.
VSP Arrest NH Man for Aggravated Sexual Assault
Vermont State Police arrested a Hinsdale NH man for Kidnapping and Aggravated Sexual Assault on Thursday. Police say while investigating a sighting report of a missing Hinsdale NH 14-old girl they located the teen near Alden Road in Rockingham. Officers learned that 33-year-old Kurt Carpentino brought the teen to Vermont from New Hampshire, to engaged in sex. Springfield police officers located Carpentino in Springfield where he was arrested.
Carpentino is lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility where he is being held on $50,000 bail. Carpentino will be arraigned today at 12:30 pm in Windham County Superior Court.
Economic Profile In Works for Sullivan County
UNH Cooperative Extension and Sullivan County, municipalities and community support is hosting a meeting for planning a Regional Economic Profile for Sullivan County.
The Economic Profile helps communities identify local and regional economic assets and opportunities and prioritize needs. In addition the profile helps develop and implement effective strategies to strengthen the community’s economic base. A Steering Committee will lead an 18-month process to review already established Economic Development work by the Regional Planning Commission, the County, and state and national economic trends..
