Claremont Firefighter Donates Toys to CHaD
A Claremont businessman and firefighter’s donation brightened the day for CHaD kids. The kids at Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth (CHaD) received a truckload of new toys thanks to Nicholas Koloski. Koloski who had two eye surgeries as a child at what was then Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, recalls the relief he felt visiting the toy room during his stay.
Giving toys to children who are patients is something Koloski has always wanted to do since his hospital experience. The firefighter used his yearly stipend from Claremont to purchase the toys. In addition members of the Claremont community dropped toys off for truck load that Koloski organized and delivered Tuesday afternoon.
CHaD’s Amie Marsh said the donation will supply the toy shelves at CHaD for six to nine months. CHaD uses the toys to help normalize their patients’ day and to give them encouragement, play and a sense of comfort while they are away from their home.
