NH House Hearing on Tuition Bill
nh-houseThe NH House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on the town tuition bill, HB 557 (2017) this Wednesday. The bill is relative to school attendance in towns with no public schools. The hearing is on January 25th at 1:00pm in room 207 of the Legislative Office Building. HB 557 has the same language that was approved in the Committee of Conference last year. This legislation would help numerous other small towns across the state that do not provide full K through 12 education in-district

New DMV System Will Effect February Registrations
If you are a NH Resident and need to register your vehicle in Feb., please note the Town/Cities Clerks offices will be unable to process them from Feb. 17-21. The NH Department of Safety, Division of Motor Vehicles will be implementing VISION a new computer system. DMV will not be able to process registrations either during the process. Town and City Clerks Offices will be open for other business.

Murder Suspect on the Run
A Montpelier murder suspect is on the lam following the weekend shooting of 33-year-old Markus Austin. An arrest warrant was issued on Monday for Jayveon Caballero 29, of Barre, VT for Second Degree Murder and bail has been set at $500,000.
There was an altercation between the two men outside a bar in Barre and at some point during the altercation Markus Austin assaulted Desiree Cary, Caballero’s girlfriend. Detectives believe Caballero shot Austin in the parking lot and fled the scene.
Police arrested Desiree Cary 22 on Sunday evening and was taken into custody following a motor vehicle stop in the town of Barre. Cary was the target of an ongoing drug distribution investigation by members of the Vermont Drug Task Force. Cary was lodged for lack of $10,000 bail and is facing charges to include sale of crack cocaine, and 3 counts of sale of heroin. Police believe Caballero may have gotten on a bus on Sunday and could be anywhere. If anyone know Caballero’s where abouts they are asked to contact the Vermont State Police.
Brookfield VT Man Leads Police in Chase
A Brookfield, VT man led police on chase from I-89 in Sharon to Rte. 66 in Randolph VT yesterday afternoon. Police say troopers tried to stop James Freeman 35, when he began to flee at high speed. Officers used spike strips to stop him and he fled on foot but was taken into custody without incident when troopers caught up with him. After his arrest, Freeman was ordered held on bail pending a court appearance in Windsor Criminal Court today.
