Body Found in Quarry Believed to Be Missing Bennington Woman

bennington-womanVermont State Police believe they found the body of a missing Bennington woman in Dorset VT quarry. Shortly after 9:30 am drivers from the Vermont State Police Scuba team located a female fitting the description of missing Bennington woman. Hadil Marzouq was last seen on Friday Dec. 17, and Saturday night police located the vehicle Marzouq was driving next to VT Rte. 30 at the Dorset Quarry. Police conducted a large land and water search in and around the Dorset Quarry on Tuesday and continued it this morning.  The body was recovered and transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Exam for further investigation. Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation are working with the Bennington S/A and the OCME to determine the cause of death.

 

Bellows Falls Man Charged on Multiple Drug Charges

A Bellows Falls man was charged with multiple drug charges on Tuesday.Bellows Falls Police say they arrested 36-year old Christopher W. Paige on Tuesday, after obtaining a search warrant for Paige’s School Street residence. Once inside Bellows Falls Police along with Walpole NH police discovered a sophisticated marijuana grow operation in the basement. Police seized 140 bags of Heroin, 116 Marijuana plants, 1.2 pound of processed Marijuana, 16 firearms and marijuana processing equipment. Paige was taken into custody. Bail was set at $25,000.00 and Paige was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility. Paige was scheduled for arraignment in the Vermont Windham Criminal Division Court yesterday for the charges of Heroin Trafficking, Marijuana Cultivation (greater than 100 plants) and Possession of Marijuana (greater than 1 lb.).  Police say they are continuing the investigation.

 

Lebanon Man Arrested on Felony Heroin Charges

A Lebanon man was arrested on felony heroin charges yesterday after a drug investigation. Lebanon Police arrested Christopher Ransom 55, of Mechanic Street for possession of heroin and possession with intent to distribute heroin after Ransom delivered a small amount of heroin to undercover officers in the parking lot of Maplefield’s Convenience Store. Police found more heroin while searching Ransom’s residence. The Lebanon Police Department, in cooperation with the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Drug Task Force, and New Hampshire Probation and Parole conducted the drug investigation. Ransom was held after refusing bail, he is due for arraignment today (Dec 22) at the Lebanon District Court.

 

Three Vermont Woman Arrested After Shoplifting Spree

Three Vermont women went on a shoplifting spree in Lebanon on Tuesday.  Lebanon Police arrested Cheryl Barrows 51 of Salisbury VT, Nora Newton 45, of Leicester VT, and Mary Newton 47 of Brandon VT for receiving property.  Police say they received a report from JC Penneys of three females shoplifting from the store. Witnesses gave a description of the vehicle that the women were driving. Lebanon Police Officers located the vehicle and the three female suspects in West Lebanon. An investigation led to the discovery of stolen property from JC Penney, Tractor Supply, and Eastern Mountain Sports for a total combined value of approximately $2,100.
Nora Newton was held on $2,500 cash bail, Mary Newton and Cheryl Barrows were also held and had bail set $5,000 cash. All three were scheduled to be arraigned in Lebanon Circuit Court yesterday. (Dec 21)
