Two Arrested for Stolen Cavendish ATV
springfield vt mapTwo men were arrested in Springfield VT on Saturday for the theft of an ATV stolen from Cavendish. The ATV was reported stolen on Friday by Vermont State Police.. Springfield Police say they received a tip from a witness who saw the ATV driving up and down Whitcomb Street. Police stopped and detained Aaron Montgomery 27 of Springfield VT but another male fled behind a residence. The ATV was located behind the residence.
Officers identified the male who fled as Matthew Horton 27, of Cavendish, who had an outstanding extraditable arrest warrant from NH. Police located Horton hiding in the closet of a River Street residence shortly before 8:30 am.
Horton was issued a citation to appear at a later date for the alleged Possession of Stolen Property and was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility on the alleged charge of Fugitive From Justice on $25,000 bail and will be arraigned on November 28th on the Fugitive charge.
Horton and Montgomery will appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on January 17, 2017 to answer to the alleged possession of Stolen Property charge.

Lebanon Police Seek Information on Deceased Man’s Family
Lebanon Police are seeking help from the public in locating the family of a man found deceased on a river bank last Wednesday morning. Police say the autopsy showed Robert William Cook 47, died of an apparent suicide after jumping from the Rte. 4 Bridge. However, Police have not been able to locate Mr. Cook’s family. Cook was living in White River Junction at the time of his death and previously lived in Phoenix AZ. Anyone with information on immediate family is asked to contact the Lebanon Police Department at 603-448-1212.

VSP Investigating Burglary With Pipe Wrench
Vermont State Police are investigating a robbery of the Sunoco Station on Rt. 5 in Dummerston. Police say just before midnight on Thanksgiving a male carrying a pipe wrench demanded money from the cashier. Approximately $300.00 was taken before he left the store on foot. No description was given but the man was wearing a ski mask and a blue jacket. The Bellows Falls K-9 team assisted at the scene but were unable to locate the suspect. Police are asking if anyone has information on this burglary to call them at 802-722-4600 ext. 518.

Washington Man Charged with Negligent Driving
A Washington NH man was charged with negligent driving after driving 94 in a 35 mph zone. , Keagan Manning-Hardy 25 was traveling on Lempster Mountain Road when he was clocked on radar. Manning Hardy told Lt. Steve Marshall, that he had been involved in a road rage incident with another vehicle and was trying to get distance.
Manning-Hardy was issued a summons to appear in the 5th Circuit Court-Newport in January, 2017 to answer a charge of Negligent Driving.
