meridithmanJust after 2:30 am on Thursday, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police, Troop D Barracks, responded to a report of a wrong way driver on Interstate 93 near Mile Marker 52.4. The suspect was traveling southbound in the northbound lane almost causing a head-on collision with one of the reporting callers.
Trooper Christopher Martineau encountered the wrong way driver near Mile Marker 46 and was able to slow the vehicle and get it to come to a stop in the passing lane. Sgt. James Steinmetz and Trooper Dan Livingstone assisted by boxing in the vehicle so that it would not continue south.
The driver Michael Drake, 34 of Meredith NH was driving a 2010 Toyota Camry.
Michael Drake was taken into custody and charged with Driving While Intoxicated 2nd offense and Reckless Conduct, and Open Container. The results of his breath test indicated he was twice the legal limit.
He was released on $8000.00 PR bail pending a court arraignment in the Concord District Court on November 4, 2016.
