Chester VT Man Faces Multiple Charges
A Chester VT man is facing multiple charges after he assaulted a female and then fled with an axe. Chester Police say the incident happened just after 10:30 pm on Friday. Shortly after arriving at the scene at Highland Court officers say they received a report that a man was at the Jiffy Mart with an ax who then fled into the woods. Officers eventually located James McCool who was taken into custody after resisting arrest. McCool was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $2,500 bail. He will appear in Windsor Criminal Court today Monday to answer the charges of Domestic Assault, Resisting Arrest , Violations of Conditions of Release, Unlawful Mischief, Operation without Owners Consent, Criminal Threatening, Disorderly Conduct, and Offense Committed within the Presence of a Child.
Scott Cooney Takes Helm as Hartford’s Fire Chief
Hartford’s Interim Fire Chief Scott Cooney is now its permanent Fire Chief. Chief Cooney has served as the Interim Fire Chief since September of 2015 began as Hartford VT’s permanent chief yesterday (Sunday). The Chief has been a member of the Hartford Fire Department since 1995 and a resident of Hartford since 2000. During his interim position, Chief Cooney provided strong leadership and stability.
Kayakers Rescued from CT River
Two kayakers were rescued from tree branches on the CT River on Sunday afternoon in Walpole NH. The kayakers lost their kayaks in the swift water on the south side of the damn. N.Walpole. Fire Chief Bill Crawford said Walpole Fire Department rescued the boaters and the North Walpole NH Fire Department retrieved the kayaks. The Chief said they were in the water for about a half hour and reminds boaters to stay on the north side of the damn away from the swift currents on the south side.
