New London Hospital to Hold Emergency Drill
New London Hospital (NLH) is conducting an Emergency Preparedness Exercise on Saturday, June 11 at Colby-Sawyer College and the hospital.
New London Fire Department, the New London Police Department and Colby-Sawyer College Security will join the exercise to test emergency response in a case of an active shooter.
Although it is unlikely to happen, no institution is invulnerable to a crisis said Pamela Drewniak, EMS and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator at NLH. The Emergency preparedness drills provide opportunities for the hospital staff and community Emergency Medical Services personnel to test and improve upon their response plans and actions.
NLH conducts multiple emergency preparedness exercises each year to remain in compliance with federal guidelines. The exercise will begin early morning and will conclude approximately at noon. Patient care and emergencies at NLH will not be affected because of the exercise.
