Lebanon PD Installs Sharps Disposal Unit
The Lebanon Police department and Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital are offering a Sharps Disposal Container in the Lebanon Police Station lobby. The container will give community members a safe and environmentally safe way to dispose of used and unwanted needles.
The container is available 24 hours a day.
“It’s free, anonymous, and environmentally friendly and it’s available to you 24 hours a day,” said Chief Richard Mello of the Lebanon Police Department.
Vermont Air National Guard Night Flights
The Vermont Air National Guard 158th Fighter Wing is scheduled to conduct night flying February 23, – March 5, 2016. The evening flights are scheduled to occur Tuesday through Friday and Tuesday through Saturday the second week. All flights will land approximately 11:00 p.m.
Wardsboro VT Man Arrested for Child Assault
A Wardsboro VT man was arrested on multiple charges for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old boy. Vermont State Police say the Department of Children and Families (DCF) contacted them with a report of severe child abuse earlier this month. During the investigation, the boy was found to have severe bruising throughout his body appearing to be in different stages of healing.
DCF placed the child in a safe environment pending the outcome of the case.
On Tuesday Shawn Howard 48, was arrested and issued a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on February 24, 2016 to answer the charges of 1st Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault, 2nd Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault, Cruelty to a Child.
Sports Symposium at Colby Sawyer
Colby-Sawyer College will host a Sports Science Symposium on March 7. The Exercise and Sports Sciences Symposium Athletes First and Components of Effective Coaching will be held in Wheeler Hall in the Ware Student Center. The will be from8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lectures are free and open to the public with a reservation required by Friday, Feb. 26. Lunch is also available for a cost of $12.50. Bridge Work in Orford
The NH DOT will be doing bridge repairs on NH Route 25A in Orford. Repairs will be on the bridge that crosses over Jacobs Brook and will start on Monday Feb.29. The project will take about 9 weeks and there will be limit travel to one lane during repairs.
There will be curb repair work on both sides of the bridge. Alternating bridge traffic will be controlled Stop and Yield signs.
