Cornish Police Seek Information on Vehicle that Damaged Bridge
Cornish Police seek information on a unknown, over height vehicle that damaged the historic Dingleton Hill Covered Bridge on Saturday.. Evidence at the scene suggests the vehicle had amber warning strobe lights on it. Pieces of the lights were seized as evidence.

Springfield VT Woman Arrested for Domestic Assault
Springfield Police say they arrested 47 year-old Janet Williams after an investigation at a residence for a domestic assault. Officers determined Williams allegedly assaulted the victim and knocked the phone out of his hand while he tried to call the police. Williams was processed and transported to Southern State Correctional Facility and lodged on $1,500 bail.
Police Seek Whereabouts of Missing Teen
The Claremont Police Department is seeking help from the public in locating Carrie Holland, a 17-year-old juvenile was reported by her mother as missing. Carrie was last seen wearing tan leather work boots, a black jacket with fur hood, red bag and a tan purse. Carrie is believed to be in the Claremont/Newport area. Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact Claremont Police Department at (603) 542-9538 or their local police department.
New Officer for Hartford Police
Hartford VT Police Department has a new officer. On Friday, K-9 Dozer successfully completed his intensive six-week drug detection training along with his partner Officer Eric Clifford. , Officer Clifford and Dozer trained in the detection of several illicit drugs, including cocaine, crack, heroin, methamphetamine, and ecstasy and began patrols on Monday.
Dozer is a one-year-old Labrador retriever raised in Maryland, with lineage to police dogs serving with law enforcement agencies throughout the United States at the local, state and federal level. When he is not working, Dozer lives with Officer Clifford and likes to play fetch with Officer Clifford’s family dogs. The two will return to the Criminal Justice Training Council this summer to complete a six-week training program in woodland tracking and area searching for lost or missing persons and evidence.
Canaan Man Rescued in Dorchester
A Canaan man was taken to Spear Memorial Hospital on Saturday after he crashed his snowmobile Dorchester. NH Fish and Game Conservation officers say 55-year old Michael Stewart was riding his snowmobile with friends when he lost control on a sharp corner and crashed his snowmobile into the woods. Stewart’s injuries and damage to his snowmobile made it impossible for him to exit the woods. Rescue personnel stabilized Stewart on the trail and transported him to the road. He was then transported by ambulance to Spear Memorial Hospital in Plymouth and treated for his injuries.
Chester VT Firefighter Battle Brush Blaze
Chester VT Firefighters spent Monday evening battling a brush fire off Reservoir Road in Chester. The fire was reported by passing cars on Rt.11. It took an hour for the Chester Fire Department to arrive at the scene, which was not accessible by fire trucks. Chester and Ludlow used their tracked 4 wheelers to bring firefighters and equipment a mile into the woods and firefighters had to hike about ¾ a mile up a ridge. One firefighter was injured and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Fire officials believe a campfire or a cigarette started the fire. Ludlow Fire Department assisted with the blaze and Proctorville Fire Department covered the Chester Station.
