NH Fish and Game Has Busy Weekend with Rescues
NH Fish and Game Officers and local first responders were busy this weekend. On Friday afternoon, Fish and Game Officers rescued a Somerville MA man from Mount Cardigan after he fell and injured his leg. Officials say Mark Ireland was hiking alone and not dressed for the winter temperatures and Ireland was suffering from hyperthermia. Just before 5 pm, a group of rescuers reached the man and carried Ireland down 1.5 miles to the trailhead around 6:40 pm. Ireland was evaluated and taken to D.H.M.C. for treatment.
On Saturday afternoon, an injured female hiker was rescued off Mt.Kearsatge by DHART (Dartmouth helicopter) after she hurt her ankle hiking. Officials say rescuers used both Winslow and Rollins State Park to reach the hiker. Just after 2:30 pm, rescuers reached the woman and carried to the summit of Mt. Kearsarge where she was airlifted to D.H.M.C. about 3:30 pm. Crews experienced extreme difficulty accessing the patient due to icy hiking conditions
Bellows Falls’ Teens Charged with Assault
Two Bellows Falls juveniles were arrested for Assault and Robbery with Serious Bodily Injury. Police say they responded to a call and found a 17-year-old boy injured near the intersection of Atkinson and Burt Streets in Bellows Falls shortly after 4 am on Friday. The 17 year old had been robbed and had serious bodily injuries from an assault. On Friday afternoon, police arrested on a 16 year old on Pine Street and later police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile. Both teens were charged as adults and lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
Springfield MA Man Arrested for Possession of Crack Cocaine
Bellows Falls Police arrested a Springfield MA man for Possession of Crack Cocaine-Over 2 ounce on Friday. Police say they stopped Jonthony S. Maldondo 23, for a traffic offense on Burt St. in Bellows Falls just after midnight. Officers saw drug paraphernalia in his vehicle and Maldondo granted permission for a search. Officers found over 2 ounces of Crack Cocaine packaged for sale in the vehicle. Maldonado was arrested and ordered held on $15,000 cash or surety bond with conditions. Maldonado was transported to the Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of bail.
Springfield VT Holds Town Meeting
Springfield VT has the first portion of their town meeting tonight. Town Meeting will begin at 7:30 PM on Monday, February 29, 2016 at Springfield High School. Voting will begin at 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Riverside Middle School. Printed copies of the 2015 Annual Report are available for pick up at Town Hall, Town Library and Park Street School.
