Cornish Woman Escapes Injuries in Crash
cornish crashA Cornish NH woman was uninjured after her midsize truck when down a steep embankment on Monday. Cornish Police Chef Doug Hackett said Mary Jo Miller 63 went down the steep embankment just after 5:30 pm on Center Road. The Cornish Police, Cornish Fire, Cornish Rescue Squad, Golden Cross Ambulance and Plainfield Sales and Service responded to the scene. Chief Hackett reminds drives to be mindful of road conditions on sunny days because roads can thaw out and re-freeze as the sun sets.

 

 

Newport Moves Forward with One Financial District
Newport is moving forward with its one financial district. Bill-328, which permits public agencies to exercise certain joint powers with school districts, will have a public hearing today 9:00 am. The bill is sponsored by Senators Little, Birdsell, and Boutin and Representatives Irwin, Rollins, J. Belanger and Sterling.

Seventy Two Compete in Upper Valley Winter Games
Seventy-two athletes participated in the 14th Annual Upper Valley Winter Games of the Special Olympics. The event took place at Dartmouth Skiway with, Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowboarding and Snowshoeing. The lack of snow from warmer temperatures this year caused some events being cancelled and 40 to 50 fewer athletes competing. The athletes will continue with the State Winter Games on Sunday, February 28 -Tuesday, March 1 at Waterville Valley Resort

Rape Aggression Class Offered
The Weathersfield Police Department is offering a class in Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) for females in the upcoming months. The class is a total of 9 hours. There are three nightly classes (Mon, Wed and Thurs from 6pm – 9pm) or an all day Saturday class (8 am – 5 pm). If you are interested in taking the defense course can call (802) 674-2185.

DUI Suspected in Tractor Trailer Crash
Police suspect that Driving Under the Influence is the reason for a Tractor Trailer – Car crash in Woodstock VT on Monday. Police say a 2006 Pontiac Grand am, allegedly operated Nicholas Christian 22, was traveling East on Rte 4 when it allegedly swerved into the path of a 2016 Kenworth Semi Tractor Trailer driven by Edwin Berry of Wheelock, VT. While at the scene, the Officer found probable to believe that Christian was allegedly operating impaired. Christian was transported to D.H.M.C. with unknown injuries. The officer continued the investigation at D.H.M.C. and obtained an evidentiary blood test for DUI. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
