Cause of Hartford Fire Under Investigation
The cause of a 1-Alarm fire at the Vermonter Apartments on Gates Avenue in Hartford is still under investigation. Hartford VT Fire Captain Shawn Hannux said the fire started shortly before 9:00 pm on Wednesday and was contained to one room. Fire Departments from Hanover and Lebanon NH along with Norwich and Heartland VT helped with the blaze. All fire departments were back at their stations by 10:30 pm
Springfield Police Arrest Three Additional Suspects in Robberies
The Springfield VT Police Departments made three more arrests in connection with several area burglaries. Arrested were Seth Smith 22, of Reading VT, Liam Vezina 19 of Springfield VT, and a17 year-old Springfield VT male juvenile. Police said the arrests came after an investigation that began in late August when the Springfield Rite Aid and Citizen’s ATM were burglarized, damaged. The investigation also followed multiple burglaries at Downer’s Four Corner Store, Jake’s South Market, and an attempted Burglary of the Irving Station in N. Springfield.
Smith was cited for two of the Downer’s Four Corners store burglaries, the Vandalism of Citizens ATM and the Rite-Aid burglary. Vezina was cited for involvement in one of the Downer’s Four Comers store burglaries, the Vandalism of Citizen’s ATM and the Rite-Aid burglary. The 17-year old juvenile was cited for his involvement in two of the Downer’s Four Corners store burglaries, the Rite-Aid burglary, the Jake’s South Street Market Burglary, the attempted burglary of the N. Springfield Irving and the vandalism of Citizen’s Bank ATM. All will appear in Vermont Superior on later dates. In December, Springfield Police arrested Steve Miller 24, and another male juvenile for their part in the above burglaries.
Two Walpole Residents Taken to Hospital after Car Crash
Two Walpole residents were taken to Cheshire Medical Center after an accident on Rt. 12 in Walpole on Tuesday afternoon. Police said Eileen Fletcher 25 was in a Toyota and turning onto Blackjack Crossing Road when the collision with 60-year-old Matthew Bozogan occurred. Bozogan had been traveling north in a Honda Civic. The Walpole Fire Department extricated Bozogan from his vehicle and Walpole Ambulance took both Fletcher and Bozogan to Cheshire Medical Center.
Police believe the cause of the crash is intersection related and drugs or alcohol does not appear to be contributing factors. Walpole Police are asking if anyone saw the crash to contact them at (603)445-2058.
