Fatal Accident in Newport
fatal accidentA fatal accident closed John Stark Highway near Barton Whitney Road in Newport for several hours shortly after midnight on Friday morning. Newport Police say a single vehicle was traveling towards Newport when it crossed the center line, hit a tree a caught on fire. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. One of two dogs in the car was also deceased and an second was taken by taken by a Good Samaritan to a local vet. The car received extensive damage. At this time the driver’s identity is not being released pending notification of the family.

Claremont Man Saved From Burning Car
A Claremont man was saved from a burning car on I-91in Springfield, just after midnight on Friday. Police say Gene Farnham 66, crashed his car in a tree causing it to catch fire.
Marie Lajoie and her father Michael Lajoie of Maryland stopped when they saw the flames. They could hear Farnham inside his vehicle but could not see him due to the smoke.
Marie Lajoie broke the rear passenger window and gained entry, she and her father then pulled Farnum from the car moments before it became engulfed. Officer Steven Neilly of the Springfield Police Department arrived shortly after the Lajoie’s had removed Farnham and assisted them with moving him further away from the burning wreckage and across the interstate.
Farnham was transported to the Springfield Emergency with non-life threatening injuries. The Vermont State Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. DHMC’s CEO Makes Becker’s List
Congratulations to James Weinstein, DO CEO of Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon who was recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review 100 List. The list features 100 hospital and health care system presidents and CEOs who hold medical degrees. Leaders were selected for the list based on editorial judgment, discretion, and nominations.

WorkReady NH to Start November 2
Those who are looking to hone up on skills that employers want, can register for Work Ready NH. The course is being offered at River Valley Community College in Claremont from Nov 2 – 23. Since 2011 over 2000 NH residents with varying levels of education from no high school diploma to PhD’s and from 18 – 80 years old, have graduated. Lebanon Adopts Airport Vision Statement
The Lebanon City Council adopted a Vision Statement for Lebanon Airport’s Master Plan at Wednesday night’s meeting. The vision statement “The Lebanon Airport will be a community asset with optimized air service through financially self-sustaining means, while minimizing negative environmental and social impacts,” will be used as a guide.
Lebanon’s Planning Consultant Team will develop a draft of the Airport Master Plan and will present the draft sometime in late January or early February. A public workshop will follow so Lebanon residents and others interested in the plan have an opportunity to provide feedback. The Planning Consultant Team will revise the Plan based on the feedback received, and present it to the City Council for their consideration sometime in late February or Early March.

Goshen Withdrawal Committee Meeting
The Goshen SAU 71 Withdrawal Committee and the Goshen School Board will have a Joint public hearing on the Withdrawal of SAU 71 proposed plan to be submitted to the N.H. Department of Education in the Goshen Town Hall on November 4, 2015 at 6:30 PM. All residents of SAU 71 – The Goshen and the Lempster School Districts are invited to attend.
