Stocker Completes Work on Memorial
brentBrent Stocker is back at work on the Sarah Josepha Hale Memorial. This time Stocker is laying a granite walk way. Sunapee Granite Works in Sunapee custom made the NH Granite blocks for the project. Stocker was instrumental in the foundation work for the memorial and said the granite walkway was included in the original plans.
Retired businessman Roy Malool commissioned the construction the Sarah Josepha Hale Sculpture and Memorial park with a generous donation in 2013. Malool wanted to bring attention to Newport native and writer who accomplished so much in her lifetime, including having Thanksgiving declared a National Holiday by President Abraham Lincoln.
Stocker plans for the walkway to be finished before winter.
