Skimming Device Found on Mascoma Bank ATM in Hartford
Updated:Hartford VT Police are warning residents about a skimming device found on an ATM at the Maple Avenue Branch of Mascoma Savings Bank in White River Junction, VT. Hartford Police say they were notified of the problem just before 1:00 pm on Saturday. An investigation determined the devices was installed just before 6:00 am Saturday. Mascoma Bank issued a press release saying “. We are currently working with Law Enforcement and the Secret Service to identify the person or persons associated with this device. We are confident that no customer data was compromised. However, any of our customers that may have used the machine during the time period that the skimmer was in place will be contacted.” Police reminds citizens to be vigilant when using ATM’s and not to use a machine if something does not look appropriate. When customers enter a PIN number on the keypad they should use one hand to cover the numbers entered so a camera cannot capture the PIN. This is the third skimming device found in our listening area since the beginning of September. A skimmer was found in a Bank of American ATM in Goffstown, and on a gas pump at the Irving’s in Tilton.
