Hartford VT Police are warning residents about a skimming device found on an ATM at Mascoma Savings Bank on Maple Street Office in White River Junction, VT. Hartford Police say they were notified of the problem just before 1:00 pm on Saturday. An investigation determined the devices had been installed earlier that morning just before 6:00 am. Macoma Bank issued a press release saying “We are confident that no customer data was compromised. However, any of our customers that may have used the machine during the time period that the skimmer was in place will be contacted.” Citizens are reminded to be vigilant when using ATM’s and not to use a machine if something does not look appropriate. Also, when entering PIN numbers on the keypad, use one hand to cover the numbers that are being entered so a camera cannot capture the PIN being entered.
