Music and Art Center Planned for Sunapee
Habor livery houseA music and art center is one closer for Sunapee and area residents. Chair of the Harbor House Livery Committee Mike Durfor says the committee has been working for 10 years on a use for the historic building.
Jolyn Johnson one of the founders of the Harbor Riverway Corporation says the corporation was formed as a for profit in order for the town to receive taxes on the full assessed values of the properties. Johnson said that after they buy the property it will be lease it to a nonprofit.
Papers on the purchase are expected to be passed at the next Selectboard Meeting on Tuesday, September 8.

Cause of Thetford Barn Fire Undetermined
A fire that destroyed a Thetford barn just after 4:30 am on Monday is still under investigation. Thetford Volunteer Fire Department said the Academy Road barn was fully engulfed upon their arrival. Firefighters knocked over the structure timbers to prevent collapse while firefighters battled the flames. Fire Chief Chad Whitcomb requested an investigation on the origins and circumstances on the fire since the building did have electricity.
Members of the Vermont Fire Investigation Unit I combed through the burnt structure looking the fire. The cause was classified as undetermined; however, the origin and cause are still under investigation. The fire investigation unit with assistance from the Thetford Police Chief continues
to investigate the fire. Anyone with information concerning this fire should contact the Vermont State Police or the Thetford Police.

Distracted Driving Caused TT Crash on I-89
A tractor-trailer truck was totaled in a single vehicle accident on I-89 in Sutton just after 12:30 pm on Monday. Driver David E. Moore 67 of Hyde Park MA said he became distracted and went off the left side of the road. The truck hit a rock embankment and rolled on to its side. Moore was not injured.
NH State Troopers Troop G- Commercial Vehicle Enforcement investigated the crash and determined there was no mechanical failure or medical emergency. Troopers found no recent usage of Moore’s cell phone prior to the crash. Moore was issued a summons for negligent operation. Along with officers from Troops G and D, Sutton Police, Sutton Fire Department and New London ambulance were on scene. New Hampshire Department of Transportation had several of its personnel on scene to help with traffic and remove trees and other debris.

Sunapee Police Step Up Community Outreach
Sunapee Police Chief David Cahill says Coffee with Cop has been a success with about 25-30 residents attending each month. The Chief says his entire department has made an effort this year to reach out to the Sunapee Community and now they offering another way to keep connected.
