Newport Fire/EMS Receive Service Awards
Dana Violette and his family were at the Newport Fire Department last night to meet with the department members who saved his life. It was exactly three months to the day that Newport Fire and EMS answered the 911 call they found Violette unresponsive, not breathing and with no pulse after suffering a heart attack. Off and on duty personal joined in the effort to get Violette’s heart beating before taking him to Newport Hospital. Dana said it’s a miracle he is alive.
While Dana was at Dartmouth awaiting surgery, the facility was strike by lightening and he was transferred to Bingham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston. Dana’s father Vern Violette said the Newport EMS performed a miracle.
All of the personal on duty that night received a service award and hugs from the Violettes. A list of the first responders is below.

Bethel Woman Arrested on Warrant
A Bethel woman was arrested for failure to appear in Court. VT State Police say they arrested Allison Richards 27, at her Bethel home on Wednesday after she failed to appear for an arraignment in Windham Superior Court. Richards was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $1000.00 bail. In June Richards pled not guilty in Windsor Criminal Court to felony and misdemeanor charges stemming after leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injuries on June 23, 2015.
Richards is scheduled to appear in Windham County Superior Court Criminal Division on 8/13/15 at 12:30 pm to answer the new charges.
Washington NH Road Closed
Washington NH residents will not be able to use part of Half Moon Pond Road today. The Department of Public Works is replacing a failed culvert under Half-moon Pond Road at the intersection of Snow Road. The installation of the culvert requires the road closed from 8am- 2pm. The work is expected to be completed in one day.

Hartford Village Bridge Closed Friday and Monday
The Hartford Village Bridge on the V.A. Cut-off road will be closed for paving preparation on Friday, August 14th. The road will be open for the weekend and then closed again on Monday, August 17 for paving.
