Sanders Draws Crowd In Claremont
Bernie Sanders spoke to an enthusiastic crowd of about 500 on Sunday in Claremont. Many of those attending listened to the Democratic Presidential Candidate on a speaker outside the Common Man, like Bob Sinclair of Plainfield NH
Sanders wants to have tuition free community and public colleges, expand social security. Sander’s legislation calls for eliminating the cap on the payroll tax on all income above $250,000.
In addition, he calls wants free day care, paid maternity and family leave, and only appoint a Supreme Court Judge that will vote overturn “Citizens United.”
Sanders only winked at foreign policy mentioning that he is against NAFTA and the Trans-Pacific Partnership Free Trade Agreement.
Another person in the crowd outside was Karen Salvas of Lebanon NH said she likes Bernie because he speaks for the everyday person. Sanders took some audience questions all none which were on foreign policy.
Two NH Men Arrested for Heroin Trafficking
Two New Hampshire men and a Brattleboro VT man were charged with trafficking heroin after a traffic stop in Westminster MA. Massachusetts State Police say they stopped Edward Lower 54, of Swanzey, New Hampshire for speeding and failing to change lanes for an emergency vehicle. Police discovered lower had an arrest warrant out of Wrentham, Massachusetts District Court. An investigation of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu uncovered two pounds of a substance believed to be heroin and approximately 16 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Lower and his two passengers Christopher Foster 27, of Walpole, New Hampshire and Joseph Machowski 27, of Brattleboro VT were charged with Trafficking in Heroin, and two counts of Possession of a Class A Substance with Intent to Distribute. All three were held on $20,000.00 bail pending their arraignment in Gardner District Court.
Chester VT Police Seek Stolen Wishing Well
Chester Vermont Police are looking for information on a stolen wishing well. Someone took the well on Saturday night from a residence near the intersection Route 10 and Route 103 in Chester. The wishing well is, made of pine board with a natural wood with a clear finish and asphalt shingling on the roof. Anyone with information should call the Chester Police Department (802) 875-2035.
Non Resident Town Meeting for New London
New London will have its annual Town Meeting for Non-Resident Taxpayers tonight at 6:00pm. The meeting is in the Sydney L. Crook Conference Room in the Town Office Building. A public hearing on the management of lake levels of Pleasant Lake will follow at 6:30 pm.
