Canaan Police Arrest Fugitive from Justice
Canaan Police arrested a Claremont Man as a fugitive from justice just before 11 am on Saturday. Police say they stopped Alla Rose Evans 30, of Claremont for defective equipment and questioned the identify of a male passenger. Both Evans and passenger 25-year-old Anthony Alexander provided false information to police officers about Alexander’s identity. Police eventually learned Alexander’s identity and discovered he was a wanted parolee from New York State with a nationwide extradition warrant for Parole violation – dangerous drugs. Alexander was transported to the Grafton County House of Corrections where he is being held without bail. He will be arraigned on Monday July 6th in the 2nd Circuit Court, District Division – Lebanon.
Evans was issued a summons for Hindering Apprehension and Obstructing Government
Administration. She will also face charges of Failure to use Child Restraints – Subsequent Offense and a citation for failing to obtain a New Hampshire drivers license within sixty days of residency.
Queens Man Arrested for Car Theft
A Queens NY Man is charged with Aggravated Operating Without Owners Consent. VT State police say they stopped Joseph Pilgrim 45, driving a 2003 Mazda MPV for a motor vehicle violation on I-89 in Royalton. Police discovered the Mazda was stolen last month from Justin Peck 23, of Waterbury VT. Pilgrim was arrested and charged without incidence and the car was returned to Peck.
Florida Man Clocked at 100 MPH
A Hollywood FL man will appear in Orange County Court today to answer multiple charges after his 2015 Lexus was clocked at 100 mph in Fairlee. Vermont State Troopers say Johnny Lopez 28, continued at the high speed weaving in and out of traffic before he stopped. Police immediately arrested Lopez and saw there were 3 children in the car ages 7,6, and 2 months. Lopez was cited for Negligent Operation, 4 counts of Reckless Endangerment and 3 counts of Cruelty to Children
Orange Goes to Court for New Select Board
A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday at the Grafton County courthouse to appoint Selectboard members for the town of Orange. In May, Selectman Bob Ells resigned, citing “continuous hostility” The board’s secretary Sandi Pierson quit about the same time citing “animosity and backbiting,”. The remaining two board members George White and Chair Pat Mercer resigned a week after a contentious meeting on June 9, where the board shut down their own meeting. The town is asking the court to appoint Bob Ellis, who resigned in May, and Lyell “Skip” Smith who was a Selectboard member in the 90’s. Once appointed Ellis and Smith would appoint the third Selectboard member. A call to Pat Mercer was not returned.
