Windsor Man Pleads Not Guilty in Sexual Assault Charges.
windsorA Windsor VT man is charged with 2 Counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault on a child and two counts of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct with a child. Hartford Police say their Police Department’s Windsor County Special Investigations Unit Detective received a report on June 15 that a 14-year-old Windsor child was allegedly having in appropriate sexual relations with 58-year-old Richard Coleman also of Windsor. After a joint investigation by Windsor Police Department, Windsor County Special Investigation Unit and the Vermont Department of Children and Families Services police arrested Coleman. Coleman pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Thursday. He is being held without bail. The case remains under investigation with potentially more charges pending.

Cornish Police Break up Underage Drinking Party
Cornish Police broke up an underage drinking party late Wednesday night. Cornish police with the aid of officers from Claremont, Plainfield and the NH State Police Departments took 29 underage partygoers into custody late Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Cornish Police say they were called for a noise complaint at 207 Parsonage Road in Cornish and it was evident an underage drinking party was in progress. Several individuals ran into the woods and over the next five hours officers took 29 underage partygoers in to custody. Police charged 21 of them with Unlawful possession of Alcohol. Charges of Facilitating an Underage Drinking party are pending for two 19-year olds who were custodians of the property. Police say they also seized several vehicles and had them towed from the scene. All juveniles were released to a parent, guardian or their designee, with a summons to appear in Claremont District Court on August 3, 2015. This is the third underage drinking party bust in Sullivan County since the end of May. On May 22, Washington NH Police arrested 10 of 23 CT teens at an underage beach party. In addition, on June 8, Sunapee Police took 74 underage drinkers into custody from a party in Georges Mills.

Ludlow VT Police Warn of Thefts
Ludlow VT Police Department reports there have been three thefts of garden equipment in the past two weeks. Police say the equipment was taken from camps in the southern part of town by the Chester VT border. Items stolen include two riding mowers, and a Brush Hog. Police say it is probable that the thieves are using some type of a trailer to remove items. If you see any suspicious activity especially in the evening hours, please call Ludlow Police at 228-4411

TT Crash Closes Portions of I-89 in Royalton
I-89 NB in Royalton Vermont was closed for an hour after two tractor-trailers crashed just before 11 am on Thursday. The crash caused Louis-Philipp Coutu-Codere, 30 of Quebec City to be trapped inside the cab of his truck. Bethel and South Royalton Fire Departments, White River Valley Ambulance, South Royalton Rescue and DHART were at the scene and helped extract Coutu-Codere who was taken to DHMC with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Melvin Bergendale 35, of Springfield MA was driving his 2015 Freightliner up a hill at a reduced speed with hazard lights on, when Coutu-Codere rear-ended the Freightliner. Coutu-Codere’s tractor-trailer was totaled and Bergendale’s Freightliner sustained trailer damage. The NB section of I-89 was down to one lane for several hours while the units were removed. This accident remains under investigation
