Cancer Survivor to Spread Good News In Newport Today
parlin field planesA 74 year old cancer survivor is spreading the world to live life to its fullest Jim Davis a pilot and four time cancer survivor’s goal is to fly to all 48 States to spread the news and he will do so on Thursday at Newport Airport. Davis beat skin, prostate and two different lung cancers before deciding it was time to work on his bucket list and fly to all 48 of the contiguous states. So far, the Arkansas native has been to Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island Massachusetts. At each stop, the Arkansas native shares his message by taking a fellow cancer patient or survivor for a short flight in his plane. “I say you don’t have to quit living just because you’re dying,” Davis said. “Life is precious. I try to live it to the fullest.” Davis is expected at the Newport Airport on Thursday between 2 and 3 pm.

Arrest Warrant Issued for Springfield VT Woman
Springfield VT Police Department issued an arrest warrant on Tuesday for Holy E. Aldrich aka Holly Jagelski of Springfield Vt. Police say they have reports that the 49 year old Aldrich has been allegedly scamming money through forged checks or asking for money under false pretenses.. According to reports the claims go back as far as the fall of 2013 with the latest being earlier this month.
Police say they have six cases, with one where Aldrich passed a forged check to pay back one of the victims. Police believe she is currently out of the area.

Newport Gears Up for Brewfest
Newport Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for their 2nd Annual Brewfest on June 20. In addition to returning breweries this year the Brewfest welcomes newcomers Longtrail Brewery, 603 Brewery, and Woodchuck Ciders. Over thirty different beers are confirmed for sampling with more added weekly
Only 300 tickets are available for those wanting to attend. Tickets are $20 in advance, and if available $25 at the gate. Tickets are available at the Newport Area Chamber of Commerce office, McCrillis & Eldridge Insurance, MJ Harrington & Company, Sturm, Ruger & Company, The Petal Patch, and WCNL Country studios. You must be 21 or over to purchase tickets and attend the event.
The event runs in conjunction with Newport Chamber of Commerce’s 6th annual Chamber Day, on the Town Common. Though there is a fee to attend the Brewfest, Chamber Day is a free event to attend.
