Newbury NH Police Seeks Public’s Help
Newbury NH Police say on Monday several mailboxes were damaged on Old Post Road. The incident happened during the early morning hours and it appears the mailboxes were hit with some type of object. Newbury police are currently looking for any information on the person/persons or vehicles involved. Police have increased patrols throughout the area and they ask residents to be watchful of neighbors and property. Any suspicious activity or information on this incident should be reported to the Newbury police at 763-2221.

Public Hearing in Newport for Oak Street Bridge
There is a public hearing for Newport residents on Monday, May 4 at 6:30 in the Board of Selectmen is meeting room; The Selectboard Board will hear public comment regarding the Oak Street Bridge and its potential closure and detour routes during rehabilitation/replacement in 2017 and 2018. In 2012, voters passed an article to appropriate 2.15 million dollars for the replacement and or rehabilitation of the historic bridge. The bulk of the money is coming from grants with and the Bridge Capital Projects Fund.

New Branch for Claremont Savings Bank
Claremont Savings Bank is having a Ribbon Cutting today for their new location on 148 Charlestown Road in Claremont at 5:30pm. All are invited to join in the celebration of their new location.

AG Warns of Donations to Agencies
The NH Attorney General’s Office is asking NH residents to do research before donating any monies to organizations collecting donations for Nepal. Attorney General Foster says to Follow the link to the charity’s website and read about their plans and their track record in providing relief. In addition, check for local organizations that are helping with the effort and check if they are registered in NH. Although paying online may be quick and easy, the money may not be going to where you think it is.

Springfield VT Fire Department Fights Brush Fire
Springfield VT Fire Department along with numerous mutual aid companies spent Tuesday afternoon fighting a brush fire on 525 French Meadow Road in Springfield. Fire officials say the fire started shortly after 2 pm as a 1 alarm but went to 3 alarm just before 3 pm and tankers were released shortly before 6 pm.
