Gulf War Veterans Honored

veteranGulf War Era Veterans will be thanked for their service this Sunday. A Shield of Valor Ceremony is being held at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction VT from 2-4 pm. The Ceremony is an expansion of the Quilts of Valor Program and will recognize and honor a select group of Gulf War Era Veterans. Each Veteran will receive a unique hand-made patriotic quilt provided by the Quilts of Valor Foundation and are lovingly crafted and donated by volunteer artists all over the country. New London Proclaims April “Donate Life Month”

The New London Selectboard has designated and proclaimed the month of April “Donate Life Month”.

The proclamation pays tribute to organ and tissue donors and their families, encouraging residents to register to donate their organs, and recognizes New England Surgeons for their pioneering efforts in organ transplants.

Currently there are 123,000 Americans, with over 5,000 people in New England waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. You can register to donate your organs by going to

 Wheelabrator  Up For Sale

Wheelabrator Technologies Inc announced on Thursday that it is selling its Claremont energy from waste facility. The plant, which opened in 1987, closed down in September of 2013 because of financial problems.

Stuart B. Millner and Associates are in charge of the sale and are taking offers immediately. The plant will be sold in its entirety or as separate pieces of equipment. If there is no sale agreement by April 13, the company will hold an action at the site on Tuesday, April 14, at 10 am.

The facility, located at 145 Grissom Lane, includes over 30,000 square feet of fully functional plant operation.
